Institute for Applied Ecology (Germany)

Oeko-Institut is a leading European research and consultancy institute working for a sustainable future. Founded in 1977, the institute develops principles and strategies for realising the vision of sustainable development globally, nationally and locally. Oeko-Institut employs more than 145 staff, including around 100 researchers at three locations in Germany – Freiburg, Darmstadt and Berlin. They complete approximately 300 projects each year, tackling both national and international issues. Work is organised around the subjects of Chemicals Management and Technology Assessment, Energy and Climate, Emission and Ambient Pollution Control, Radiation Protection, Agriculture and Biodiversity, Sustainability in Consumption, Mobility, Resource Management and Industry, Nuclear Engineering and Facility Safety as well as Law, Policy and Governance.
