Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations

The Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs is the chief oversight committee of the U.S. Senate. Formerly known as the Committee on Governmental Affairs, it took on primary oversight responsibility for the Department of Homeland Security in 2003 and has long focused on the issue of violent Islamist radicalizaton and homegrown terrorism. The Committee currently has five subcommittees that examine issues ranging from the federal Civil Service, to the government's financial management to how government helps communities recover from catastrophes. Over the past few years, the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations has focused on corporate financial abuses.
