UK: Manual of Patent Practice (MoPP)

The Manual of Patent Practice (MOPP) explains the Intellectual Property Offices practice under the Patents Act 1977.

It recites sections of the Patents Act 1977 and the Copyright Designs and Patents Act 1988 relating to patents.

The Manual also includes:

commentary for each provision and related legislation

official notices from the Patents and Design Journal

a section on Supplementary Protection Certificates for Medicinal Products

a section on Plant Protection Products

It is regularly updated to reflect changes in the Law and judicial decisions.

Having begun his career in academic libraries, Adrian Janes has subsequently worked extensively in public libraries, chiefly in enquiry work as an Information Services librarian. In this role he has had particular responsibility for information from both the UK Government and the European Union. He wrote a detailed report on sources for the latter which was published by FreePint in 2007, and has contributed articles to FreePint and ResourceShelf. He is involved in training in information literacy and the use of online reference resources.
