First Meat, Then Milk, Now Beer? Why More Ethanol Doesn’t Equal More Expensive Suds
First Meat, Then Milk, Now Beer? Why More Ethanol Doesn’t Equal More Expensive Suds (PDF; 97 KB)
Source: Renewable Fuels Association
When it comes to ethanol, critics appear willing to do whatever it takes to discredit the success American farmers are having in continuing to feed the world and now help fuel our nation. Previously, this coalition of dissenters has sought to finger ethanol for increasing meat and poultry prices. Then, they tried to blame higher milk prices on rising corn prices due to ethanol demand. Now, ethanol (the same alcohol that is in beer) is to blame for a higher tab at happy hour.
Like other attempts to undermine the progress ethanol is helping this country achieve toward greater energy self reliance, blaming ethanol for increasing beer prices is disingenuous at best. A closer look at the facts reveals the very same story we have seen time and again: energy, transportation, packaging, labor and advertising costs have far more to do with the price of food, including beer, than does higher corn prices due to ethanol demand.

Encouraging Collaboration Within Law Firms Friday, 17th May 2013
Failure, that's a horrible word to use at the start of an article. But that's essentially what this article is going to be about and, more specifically, why (some say) internal collaboration tools within law firms are doomed to fail. However, failure can also be useful in understanding how tools such as intranets, or collaboration tools like Confluence, are used and what could drive future projects to success.

Privacy - Don't Hold Your Breath Friday, 17th May 2013
The discovery that Bloomberg News journalists have been making use of customer data raises broader privacy issues. Associated Press has complained about secret use of its telephone records by the United States Justice Department and the British polling organisation Ipsos MORI has been exposed trying to sell anonymised data from the mobile phone service EE to the London police. How effective is anonymisation, should internet service providers shield user data from the authorities and are some websites’ privacy notices designed merely to protect the providers?
