From press release: "There is an epidemic of homelessness among lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) youth in the United States. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services estimates that the number of homeless and runaway youth ranges from 575,000 to 1.6 million per year. And, according to the National Runaway Switchboard in conjunction with other study sources, 20 to 40 percent identify as LGBT — putting LGBT youth homelessness at a startlingly disproportionate rate relative to the general population."
